We are excited to celebrate our programs with the Day of the Badger on April 16-17, 2024! This annual fundraiser brings in support for the breadth of resources our programs offer to Wisconsin communities and ecosystems. We welcome alumni, students, staff and friends of UW–Madison to support our one-of-a-kind natural resources programming.
This year, four of our programs will be welcoming donations:
- Upham Woods Outdoor Learning Center
- Water Action Volunteers (WAV) program
- Wisconsin Master Naturalist program
- Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey (WGNHS)
Here’s what your donation means for us:
Upham Woods Outdoor Learning Center connects youth and adults with the University of Wisconsin-Madison through environmental, outdoor and recreational programs. Day of the Badger donations will help them continue their mission to connect people with nature, and fund WisCorps professionals to build trails and facilitate accessibility on Blackhawk Island, so that visitors from diverse communities can enjoy this amazing natural resource.
Donations from Day of the Badger will also increase the accessibility of the Master Naturalist Training program across the state as they work to create new training materials and a hybrid training course. Over the last 10 years, Master Naturalists that graduate from these programs go on to restore, research and educate others about Wisconsin natural resources.
The Water Action Volunteers program facilitates the monitoring of Wisconsin streams, rivers and lakes through an incredible volunteer network. Day of the Badger donations will help supply monitoring kits for new volunteers. And more kits means more WAV volunteers in the field surveying more of Wisconsin’s waterways.
WGNHS has served Wisconsin for over 125 years, conducting applied research on Wisconsin geology, water and mineral resources. Donations will ensure their continued service to residents and their work in support of the Wisconsin Idea of extending the university’s resources and expertise to every family and corner of the state.Stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter pages to learn more about how our programs make a difference across Wisconsin. We hope you’ll celebrate with us!
