Wisconsin State Climatology Office

We work with the Wisconsin State Climatology Office (SCO) to provide localized, science-based weather and climate data that support rural communities in planning for extreme events. Together, we’re co-developing tools and resources—like seasonal forecasts, hazard-specific indicators, and long-term climate trends—to inform decision-making and strengthen preparedness capacity.

Wisconet

We work with Wisconet, Wisconsin’s environmental monitoring network, to expand access to real-time weather and soil data across rural communities. We help analyze and communicate this data to local leaders so they can make informed decisions based on timely, localized information.

Engage with Us

We are identifying counties, municipalities, school districts, agricultural organizations, and other community groups that experience extreme weather events including flooding, drought, extreme heat and cold, wildfires, high winds, and false springs. If your community is interested in participating in the project, contact Jackson Parr, Climate and Hazards Planning Educator with UW-Madison Division of Extension.
