The Rural Partnerships Institute (RPI), in collaboration with the Wisconsin State Climatology Office (SCO) and Wisconet, is organizing a series of roadshows – presentations and listening sessions – to better understand the weather and climate information needs of communities, as well as how extreme weather events are affecting rural communities in Wisconsin.
These sessions aim to identify the most pressing weather and climate-related questions facing local stakeholders, with a particular focus on extreme weather impacts such as flooding, drought, extreme heat and cold, and more. We hope to take this information to develop data, tools, climate information, and other resources to help communities better understand their local weather and climate, as well as improve extreme weather preparedness capacity.
The first roadshow in the Northern Region will be held at the Newbold Community Center in Oneida County on Tuesday, December 2nd from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. View and download the flyer for the event here.
Register for the Northern Wisconsin Extreme Weather Roadshow here. Free registration is required.
Dates and locations for additional roadshows in the Driftless and Central Sands Regions will be announced soon. If you have any questions, please contact Jackson Parr, Climate Hazards Planning Educator, at jgparr@wisc.edu.
